Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of ClassMate and related services provided by The Seans ("we", "us", or "our"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By creating an account, you represent that you are enrolled in or affiliated with a university and that all information you provide is accurate.
2. Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at heyy.seans@gmail.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
You may not create multiple accounts, impersonate another person, or create an account on behalf of someone else without their permission.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Post content that is illegal, threatening, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or abusive
- Violate the intellectual property rights of others
- Spread false or misleading information
- Spam or repeatedly send unsolicited messages to other users
- Collect or harvest personal information about other users without their consent
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers connected to it
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service
- Use the Service for commercial solicitation without our prior written consent
- Violate any applicable laws or university regulations
4. User Content
You retain ownership of content you post on the Service. By posting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute that content solely for the purpose of operating the Service.
You are solely responsible for the content you post. We do not endorse any user content and are not liable for content posted by users.
We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms or that we determine, in our sole discretion, is harmful to users or the Service.
5. Community Standards
ClassMate is a campus-focused community. We expect users to treat others with respect. The following types of content are strictly prohibited:
- Hate speech targeting individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics
- Harassment, bullying, or threats directed at specific individuals
- Content that violates another person's privacy (e.g., sharing personal information without consent)
- Academic dishonesty (e.g., soliciting others to complete assignments for you)
- Sexual content or nudity
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these standards.
6. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
7. Intellectual Property
The Service and its original content (excluding user content) are and will remain the exclusive property of The Seans. Our trademarks and trade dress may not be used without our prior written consent.
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
Course and academic information displayed in the Service is sourced from third-party APIs and university registrar systems. We do not guarantee its accuracy, completeness, or timeliness. Always verify important academic information with your university directly.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Seans shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the past twelve months (if any).
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause or notice, including for violation of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service immediately ceases.
You may terminate your account at any time from the Settings screen in the app or by contacting us.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting an update in the app or on this page. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Orange County, California.
